How neutering changes your cat's feeding needs
When a cat is spayed or neutered, its energy requirement drops while its appetite typically increases. This combination means that the same portion the cat received before the operation quickly becomes too much. That is why the most important task with food for a neutered cat is to maintain a healthy weight without cutting back on the protein and nutrients the cat still needs.
In practice, this is about providing a food with a high content of good-quality animal protein and an amount of fat suited to a less active, indoor cat. The protein helps preserve muscle mass and provides a feeling of fullness, so the cat doesn't beg for extra snacks between meals. Combined with the right portion size, this is the most direct way to prevent the excess weight many cats put on after the procedure.

Choose the fat content based on your cat's activity level
A neutered cat that lives indoors and moves around little needs a different fat content than an active cat that hunts outdoors. This is precisely why there is a difference between our three adult recipes, and choosing between them is the most concrete decision you make for a neutered cat.
The Panther is made with chicken and fish and has the lowest fat content of the three adult recipes. That makes it an obvious starting point for the calm indoor cat that easily gains weight after neutering. The Little Lion and the Jaguar have a higher energy content and are a better fit for cats with more activity in their daily lives. If you're unsure where your cat falls, start with the most calorie-moderate recipe and keep an eye on the weight over the first weeks.
Try the recipe in a small portion before switching completely
Cats are known for being picky, and a food change succeeds best if the cat actually wants to eat the new food. That is why it can pay off to test the taste before you buy a large bag. We have a PANTHER SAMPLE of 100 grams so your cat can taste the recipe before you decide.
When you switch food, do it gradually over about a week: mix a little of the new food into the old and increase the amount of new food day by day. A smooth transition is gentle on the stomach and makes it easier to see whether the cat takes well to the taste.
Combine dry food with wet food for more moisture
Fluid intake matters for a cat's urinary tract, and cats often drink too little on their own. A supplement of wet food adds moisture to the diet and can be a good way to keep variety in the bowl for a cat that otherwise eats dry food day to day.

The most reliable guide is not the gram figure, but the cat's body over time. If you can feel the ribs without pressing hard, and the cat has a clear waist seen from above, the weight is sensible. If the cat gains weight, dial it down a little and weigh out the portion with a kitchen scale instead of scooping by eye. Set meals rather than a bowl that is always full make it far easier to control how much the cat really gets.
Food for the kitten before it is neutered
If your cat isn't going to be neutered until later and is still a kitten, it needs an energy-rich food while it grows. Kittens are typically fed a food adapted for growth until they are around one year old and fully grown, after which you switch to adult food.
